2006 MAAFL Schedule Released
The 2006 Mid American Australian Football League (MAAFL) schedule has been released with seven clubs again competing for the coveted MAAFL title.

(Milwaukee, WI) - The 2006 Mid American Australian Football League (MAAFL) schedule has been released with seven clubs again competing for the coveted MAAFL title. The MAAFL is now entering its sixth year as a league - and has consolidated itself over that time as the premier Australian Football League in the United States. The proposed schedule was presented to the Club Directors at the MAAFL Annual General Meeting in Milwaukee in October and was recently approved as the official schedule the 2006 Season.

The 2006 MAAFL Season will commence on Saturday May 6, 2006 - and will run through to Round Seven on August 26, 2006. Each MAAFL Club will play 6 games with one bye. The MAAFL Guidelines are based on making each MAAFL match as competitive as possible - with a complete focus on an "even playing field" for the traveling team.  This includes American/Australian Ratios of 60/40 and number of players per team designated by the away team (14's, 16's, or 18's). The MAAFL draw is based on a 2 year commitment from each MAAFL Club that you will host and visit each other MAAFL Club over the course of the 2 seasons.

The Milwaukee Bombers kick off the 2006 MAAFL season against the defending and undefeated premiers of the 2005 MAAFL season, the Dallas Magpies in Dallas on May 6.  Their next game is on June 10 against the Chicago Swans in Milwaukee.  These first two opponents for the Bombers, the Magpies and Swans, were the only two teams to defeat the Bombers during the 2005 MAAFL season.  On June 24 the Bombers travel to Cincinnati to play the Dockers while on July 8 the Nashville Kangaroos visit Milwaukee.  On August 12 the Atlanta Kookaburras travel to Milwaukee for the Bombers final home game of the 2006 MAAFL season.  The Bombers finish the 2006 MAAFL season in St. Louis against the Blues on August 26.  The first ever MAAFL championship tournament has been proposed in 2006 to be held in Nashville.  Further details regarding this event will be revealed in the coming months.
