(Milwaukee, WI) - On Sunday, June 1, the Australian Rules Football Club at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) gained unanimous approval from the UWM Student Association Senate as a student organization.  The Aussie Rules Club was founded by UWM Ph.D. student Andrew Ciganek to create a new source of generating interest in Australian Rules Football among the UWM student body.  Having over 25,000 students and being located in the heart of the state’s largest city, UWM offers an excellent means of introducing the sport among an active and adventurous population.

To be recognized as a student organization at UWM, a student organization charter must be created with an initial membership of four students.  After the charter is approved by the Student Organization Advising and Resources (SOAR) director, the organization must then be approved by the Student Association Senate.

UWM supports student organization activities and recognizes it as an important part of student life at the university.  The Student Association at UWM appropriates more than $500,000 each year to campus organizations, which are used to obtain supplies, equipment, fund travel, etc.

If you are interested in joining the Aussie Rules football club at UWM or would like further information about staring a Footy club at your school or university, contact Andrew Ciganek at This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it .
