On Saturday, September 6 the mighty Milwaukee Bombers extended world-wide as past and present members collided in the Preliminary Final of the Western Australian Amateur Football League (WAAFL).  With clear skies and a sense of urgency in the air, the Scarborough Eagles featuring Patrick DeFors (back pocket) took the ground against the Hammersley Carine Hawks and Daniel "Dingo" Highman (center half back) for the right to play in the Grand Final.  With previous encounters both in favor of the Hawks, the Eagles were poised for the upset after coming off two nail-biting wins over higher ranked opponents.  The Hawks on the other hand, had something to prove after falling the previous week.

With the first bounce the Eagles showed their heart as Willow kicked an early goal, despite playing with a torn calf muscle.  Feeding off his energy, the team fought for every meter, never backing down to the Hawks tenacious approach and high-quality of play.  In the previous two encounters, the Hawks had trounced the Eagles with great skill and lots of run, but today was a different story.  With a lack of quickness in their step and poor goal kicking, the Hawks trailed after every quarter.

Sensing an upset in the third-quarter huddle, Scarborough looked to keep the intensity and come away with a win.  But when the teams took to the ground for the final term, Hammersley Carine showed why they had finished #2 in the regular season.  With precision and energy the Hawks won clearance after clearance en route to kicking nearly 7 goals and thoroughly dominating the quarter.  When the final siren went the Scarborough Eagles had fallen by 5 goals, ending the season for the club.
