Milwaukee Bombers today announced that they had turned their attention from Brett Favre to trying to secure the services of suspended Collingwood (Australian Rules Football Club) duo Alan Didak and Heath Shaw. The pair was this week suspended for the rest of the season by their Australian club for off field misdemeanors.

Bombers coach Heath Moore is reportedly seeking to contact his Collingwood counterpart, Mick Malthouse, in an effort to secure both Didak and Shaw for the balance of the US football season as the Bombers prepare to make a full tilt at this year’s Division 2 National title, being held in Colorado Springs in October.

Bombers President and Director of Player Personnel, Julie Upton said “This may be an audacious move by our club but we felt we needed to move immediately to head off any potential bidding war with Collingwood’s sister club, the New York Magpies. Everyone associated with US footy knows the Magpies are the “rich club” and able to buy players almost at will, but we believe Milwaukee offers Didak and Shaw a far greater opportunity in a much friendlier environment. Just consider, we have wider streets and less curb side parking than New York, and Milwaukee is still currently the home of Miller Brewing. And our club has an Atsro van available for the boys whilst they are with us.”

“This move makes much more sense than recruiting Favre” said centre half forward, Paul O’Connor. “We need hard running players, true stayers, rather than another centre half forward, and these guys will certainly fit in with our club culture. Water Street be warned.”

The club expects to make further announcements in the coming days.
