High Interest Day

By Sandy Bradley Image

The Milwaukee Bombers took to the schools to spread the word about Australian Rules Football on April 11th.

3 sessions were held in the morning at Underwood Elementary and 2 afternoon sessions were held at Eisenhower Elementary.  Kids from first grade to fifth grade were eager to learn about a new sport and try their hand at the new skills required to play the game.

Mother Nature was not in a cooperative mood so the sessions took place indoors.  After explaining some of the basics of the game, instructors taught the kids how to handball and then gave them a chance to practice.  Next the kids learned the fine art of kicking.

First they kicked back and forth to each other and then tried some kicks on goal.  Finally the instructors divided the kids into two teams and played a handball game with great success.  At the end of the class, the kids came together for a quick question and answer session.

The kids had a great time and footy picked up some new fans.

Thanks to Ryno and Sandy for bringing Aussie Rules to the schools
