The 2005 Milwaukee Metro Football League (MMFL) Season 2 will commence this Wednesday, August 3, at Naga-Waukee Park in Waukesha.

 Metro Season 2 Begins!

(Milwaukee, WI) - The 2005 Milwaukee Metro Football League (MMFL) Season 2 will commence this Wednesday, August 3, at Naga-Waukee Park in Waukesha.  The first game starts at 6:30pm and features the South Side Dingoes playing the Golden Eagles.  This is a re-match of the third-place championship game in last years finals in which the upstart Eagles sailed away with the victory.  Both the Dingoes and the Eagles are the teams to watch this season, both having made the greatest strides during season 1 in gaining new recruits and in improvement in overall skills.  This should be a terrific match-up.

The second game of the evening at 7:30pm pits the  season 1 premiers, the Madison Mozzies, against the Lake Shore Rovers.  This is a re-match of the season 1 Grand Final in which the Mozzies defeated the Rovers in a hotly contested game.  There is no doubt that the Rovers will be thinking of this last loss and will be scheming to reverse the outcome as they line-up on Wednesday evening.  The Mozzies, on the other hand, will surely want to make a statement in week 1 to remind the MMFL why they are the reigning premiers.

After both games have completed, both players and fans are invited to a BBQ that will take place on the field to celebrate the start of the 2005 MMFL Season 2.  So bring your friends, family, and appetite out this Wednesday to catch all the action and root for your favorite team!

There are several objectives of the MMFL, among them, to introduce the game to new players, to showcase the sport in a highly visible location, and to allow players to practice and improve their skills in weekly competition.   New players are encouraged to join as the skill level of all players, from beginners to veterans of the sport, are expected to improve from week-to-week.

Metro footy is a scaled down version of traditional Australian Rules Football.  As opposed to playing 18 players per side, metro footy games are typically played 9 per side on a field about the size of a soccer field - about half the size of a normal Aussie Rules field.  Metro footy, therefore, is a faster paced, higher scoring version of the original. With multiple teams, gives EVERYONE a chance to play footy!  Metro footy will be played on Wednesday evenings throughout the season.  Check the calendar to stay up-to-date with the location and starting times of games.
