Australia Day 2005

(Milwaukee, WI) - On Wednesday January 26th a handful of Aussies gathered at the Metro downtown to celebrate Australia Day.  In the wee hours of the morning we call raised our glasses and sang the National Anthem in perfect tune of course.

On Saturday January 29th 30 of us gathered at Robyn's house to celebrate Australia Day with pavlova, flakes and roses chocolates (thanks Paul Sleet), scotch eggs, loads of sausage rolls and copious amounts of Australian wine.

There were 3 entries in the sausage roll baking contest.  Peter Kerr was disqualified as he used Italian Sausage and claims to make his sausage rolls in the nude, Julie Upton's were fantastic but Morna had to win on the account of volume.  She must have brought about 200 of them and thank goodness because ....

The 29th was also the USFooty Board Meeting at the Marriot West and the board members and several Milwaukee Bombers crashed the party (they were actually invited) at around 6pm.  So Morna's volume of sausage rolls came in handy.  A great time was had by all.

We will keep you posted about the Anzac Day function coming either April 23rd or 24th.
