Wrap-up: Anzac Day
It was a rainy day on April 30th when we gathered in Waukesha to remember the veterans from WW1.  Despite the gloomy weather and the somewhat somber reason for our gathering, a good time was had by all.  It was great to see Australians, their American families, one Kiwi and one Pom get together and socialize.  We had about 65 so the turnout was great.

ANZAC Day 2006

(Waukesha, WI) - It was a rainy day on April 30th when we gathered in Waukesha to remember the veterans from WW1.  Despite the gloomy weather and the somewhat somber reason for our gathering, a good time was had by all.  It was great to see Australians, their American families, one Kiwi and one Pom get together and socialize.  We had about 65 so the turnout was great.

Consul General Bob Charles and his wife Rosie made the trip up from Chicago and it was great to have their official presence there.  Cricket and footy was cancelled for the day due to the weather and we were all drinking and socializing so well that we forgot all about 2-up.  Next year we'll do it.

Pretty Sally wines from Victoria were showcased by Wendy Olsen.  Many thanks to her for her presentation and her donation to the raffle.  Beer was donated by the Foster's Group.  The sausage rolls from Morna Van Groningen were a winner.  Thanks so much to her for her hours in the kitchen creating the local delight.  Anzacs, pavlova and fairy bread were there to enhance the Aussie spread.

Our next event will be Aussie Fest up at Big Cedar Lake sometime in August.  A very relaxed affair in the park with a great beach for the kids to play on.  We'll have a BBQ and play cricket.  Keep that event in mind.  We want to get as many Aussies out there as possible.

Have a great start to the summer.
