Milwaukee Bombers Final MAAFL Home Match!

(Milwaukee, WI) - The Milwaukee Bombers will be playing their final home Mid-American Australian Football League (MAAFL) match on Saturday, August 12 at 2:30pm at Brown Deer Park in Milwaukee.  The Bombers (4-0) are now the clear favorites to win the 2006 MAAFL competition as they are the lone undefeated club in the league, and a win against the Atlanta Kookaburras (1-2) would secure their first-ever MAAFL premiership.  The curtain raiser at 12:30pm for this MAAFL contest will be a women's-only match featuring the Milwaukee Explosion against the reigning 2005 National Champion Lady Kookaburras.  Admission is FREE and everyone and anyone is encouraged to attend.  All players are expected to arrive by 12:00pm to help set up the field and for warm-ups.  BBQ will be served during and after the main match for a minimal cash donation.

The Milwaukee Bombers and the Atlanta Kookaburras have had tough battles against each other in MAAFL competition over the past two seasons.  In 2004, the Kookaburras made their first visit to the Milwaukee Polo Grounds and were defeated by the host team in a very close match.  In 2005, the  Bombers traveled to Atlanta missing several of their top players, who were playing in the International Cup in Australia at the time.  In that match, the Bombers took an early lead that continued to swell until the final quarter when the infamous Atlanta heat began to take its toll.  Although Atlanta was able to mount a furious and inspired comeback, the Bombers lead was too great to match.  Milwaukee is entering this match on a high after a convincing victory over the Nashville Kangaroos and Minnesota Freeze earlier this month.  On the other hand, the Kookaburras up and down season continued after falling to Cincinnati by a goal after a stunning victory against Chicago.  Atlanta will surely be looking to remedy any doubts that their season is lost with a win against the current leader in the MAAFL ladder.
